![]() Operated by Royal Caribbean, the Oasis Class cruise ships are currently the largest passenger vessels ever built. Its size and capabilities showed the ambition of American naval engineering during the Cold War era. It served for over 50 years until its inactivation in 2012 as the longest naval vessel in the world and the first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. The USS Enterprise could carry up to 90 fixed and rotary-wing aircraft and had a crew of over 5,800 personnel. Due to their operating costs and safety concerns, the TI Class ships were decommissioned by the late 2000s. Their massive size allowed them to carry over 500,000 tons of oil. ![]() They each had a length of 458 meters, beam of 69 meters, draft of 26.4 meters and gross tonnage over 260,000 tons. There were four vessels in the class, including the Seawise Giant, Jahre Viking, and Knock Nevis. The TI Class supertankers, launched in the 1970s by the shipping company Tankers International, remain the largest ships ever built by gross tonnage.
